Track 1: The discussion was scattered and tense when she first arrived, so after building rapport and establishing some ground rules, Patty facilitated the first part of the discussion to clarify the top issues using the 4 steps to alignment.
Track 2: Consensus is where everyone is satisfied enough to get behind a decision. Concordance is where everyone is completely satisfied.
Track 1
The 4 Steps of Alignment:
- Propose – ideas are easier to debate when they are out of your head.
- Probe – set the expectation that others will want clarification and give them the opportunity to ask clarifying questions without judging, criticizing, or attacking.
- Re-propose – summarize the proposal taking into account new ideas and refinements during the probing discussion.
- Close – determine whether the proposal is good enough to go forward or needs to be set aside and reexamined.
Track 2
A recent Gallup survey of 140,000 workers indicated that in 2022 and beyond, the anticipated location where people would work would occur:
- 24% exclusively remote
- 53% hybrid
- 23% fully on site
